Oprah Announced She’s Leaving In 2011!
Oprah Winfrey announced Friday, November 20th, that she’s leaving her hugely popular syndicated talk show in 2011 after 25 years on the air!! Winfrey came on the scene in September of 1986, and has dominated the talk show arena almost from the very start of her amazing career.
In her 24 years as a talk show host she’s developed a strong worldwide following, becoming one of the wealthiest business women in entertainment history, having a net worth of over 2 billion, owning her own production company, Harpo Productions, her own “O” magazine, and her own up, and coming cable Tv station, the Oxygen Network. She’s even appeared in a movie, or two along her way to stardom!
Oprah was very emotional when she announced to the media that this next year, her 25th season, would be her last as a talk show host. She said “After much prayer and months of careful thought, I have decided that next season will be the last season of the Oprah Winfrey Show.”
She expressed to all watching how much her fans, and audiences have meant to her over the years nearly breaking down saying “ You have enriched my life beyond all measure.”
Oprah went on to say “You have invited me into your lives. Then she added “We’ve grown together. I want you all to know that my relationship with you is one that I hold very dear. Your trust in me, your sharing your precious time with me…has brought me the greatest joy I have ever known.”
Oprah didn’t go into specifics as to why she’s decided to quit after her 25th season she just said… “25 years feels right in my bones and my spirit. It’s the perfect number, the exact right time.”
She did however promise her last year would be one to remember saying that it will “knock your socks off!” She ended her announcement to the press when she said “the countdown to the end of the Oprah Winfrey Show starts now. I am going to soak up every beautiful, joyful moment with you.”
I for one will hate to see her go, and will miss her presence in the daytime tv talk show arena very much, but I think she deserves a rest as she’s worked very hard these last 24 years to get where she is!! She needs some time off to smell the roses, and enjoy life a little don’t you think?
Please feel free to post any comments you’d like to express about Oprah’s decision to leave, either positive, or negative, and let us know why you feel the way you do. I’d love to hear from you, and get your opinions on the subject!!
